Artificial intelligence has caught the imagination for its powerful potential in marketing, but businesses are still figuring out how it can be used – writing content, creating images, and planning campaigns.

At ZNGLY, we decided to do some analysis and compare Jasper vs ChatGPT – this blog explores our results and some findings. It’s not exhaustive – but it did give us some interesting insights for our clients.

How do these two tools compare to each other in real-world use? We put them to the test, analysing their capabilities in writing, image creation, and LinkedIn strategy. Here’s what we found.

Writing Capabilities: A Mixed Bag

One of the most critical aspects of AI-driven marketing is content creation. We ran an experiment: generating blog posts using both Jasper and GPT. The results? Jasper produced content with a highly corporate tone, aligning well with established brand voices. The tool uses what it calls a “brand voice”, where it tries to mimic your pre-existing content and key phrases used.

But, it all sounded too AI, a bit too salesy, and a bit too heavy handed with the marketing jargon. We found GPT’s verbiage to be more casual, sharp, and engaging, better suited for capturing attention and fostering reader connection.

For creating blogs with GPT, we used the “Universal Prompt Generator”, so the AI can help ideate with us to create the best prompt to generate our content. See the foot of the blog to see that universal prompt which you can use yourself – try it out!

For businesses looking for highly structured, brand-aligned content, Jasper does an ok job. But when it comes to creating content with a more natural and compelling tone, GPT holds the edge.

Because of the conversational nature of GPT, you can reiterate and optimise content that is generated through back and forth dialogue with the AI with the “Universal Prompt Generator”, giving it an edge in content quality and personalisation.

Image Creation: Falling Short of Expectations

AI-generated imagery is another frontier in marketing that is being tackled by these models. However, Jasper’s image creation left much to be desired. The AI-generated images often lacked the sharpness and precision required for high-quality branding and visual marketing. The same can be said for images created with GPT.

All images created were noticeably “AI”. We generate lots of rich media with AI, like Synthesia AI generated videos. But still image generation still has a long way to go.

In our experience, it was far more effective to rely on manually created graphic designs rather than AI-generated visuals.

For businesses considering AI for imagery, it may not yet be a viable solution. While AI-generated content has its place, maintaining a polished and professional aesthetic still requires human oversight and expertise.

LinkedIn Strategy: Jasper’s Strength

One area where Jasper truly excels is LinkedIn strategy. In seconds, it helped us generate a market analysis document, complete with strategic recommendations for post cadence and content themes. The result? A 130% increase in LinkedIn traction.

For businesses looking to streamline their LinkedIn strategy, Jasper is a powerful tool. It quickly produces structured plans, making it easier for marketing teams to execute consistent and data-driven social media campaigns.

Best Use Cases: Jasper vs. GPT

Each tool has its strengths and ideal applications. Here’s a quick breakdown of when to use Jasper and when to use GPT (with Universal Prompt Generator):

Use Case Best Tool Why?
Blog Writing GPT More natural, engaging, and sharp tone.
Corporate Content Jasper Aligns well with structured brand voice.
Image Creation Human Design Jasper’s AI lacks precision and clarity.
LinkedIn Strategy Jasper Quick, structured market analysis and post recommendations.

Final Thoughts

AI marketing tools are evolving rapidly, and both Jasper and GPT offer valuable capabilities. Jasper shines in structured content creation and LinkedIn strategy, while GPT excels in producing engaging, conversational writing. However, when it comes to images, human graphic design remains the superior choice.

Writing blogs takes days. Creating a social media strategy takes weeks with a subject matter expert. AI speeds this process down to minutes, while still creating a quality product that we can use.

For businesses looking to leverage AI, the key is knowing when to use automation for efficiency and when to rely on human creativity for quality. By strategically integrating these tools, marketers can optimise their content strategies while maintaining authenticity and precision.

At ZNGLY, we continue to explore AI’s role in marketing, ensuring that our clients benefit the best from a mix of technology and human expertise.

Universal Prompt Generator

I want you to become my Prompt Creator. Your goal is to help me craft the best possible prompt for my needs. The prompt will be used by you, ChatGPT. You will follow the following process: 1. Your first response will be to ask me what the prompt should be about. I will provide my answer, but we will need to improve it through continual iterations by going through the next steps. 2. Based on my input, you will generate 3 sections. a) Revised prompt (provide your rewritten prompt. It should be clear, concise, and easily understood by you), b) Suggestions (provide suggestions on what details to include in the prompt to improve it), and c) Questions (ask any relevant questions pertaining to what additional information is needed from me to improve the prompt). 3. We will continue this iterative process with me providing additional information to you and you updating the prompt in the Revised prompt section until it’s complete.
